Atlanta Braves Preview

The Braves are coming off a year where they made it to the post-season. This berth was way ahead of schedule as most observers didn’t expect them to contend until this year. They had some young guys come up and play out of their minds. Rookie of the Year Ronald Acuna provided the spark for the team along with veterans Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis. The playoff run was ended by the Dodgers but the experience the team received was well worth it.

The Braves signed Josh Donaldson, re-signed Nick Markakis and welcomed back Brian McCann to their roster. Annibal Sanchez and Kurt Suzuki headed off to the Nationals. The Braves could look to add a starter and maybe some relief help before the season starts. Other additions include Rick Kranitz to their coaching staff as the new pitching coach.

Acuna, Freeman and Ozzie Albies look to carry this team to another playoff berth. Also look for Touki Touisant and some other young pitchers the Braves have in their farm system to step up and fill holes as needed. Namely look for Austin Riley to make some appearances.  Josh Donaldson’s health will be one major key to the Braves success this year but the overall growth of the young Braves roster will be their 2019 success.
